QPR candidates dropping like flies as Jackett denies links

It has been three Championship matches and close to a month since QPR fired Chris Ramsey and placed Neil Warnock in temporary charge, yet the club look no closer to finding a permanent successor.
Two of the more prominent names linked with the Loftus Road post, Burton Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Wolves’ Kenny Jackett, have recently aired their insistence that the west London club have made no contact. Moves to make an appointment look to have come to a standstill.
Jackett, whose claim likely contributes to his non-appearance in the latest QPR manager market, was the latest to declare he’ll be going nowhere. Meanwhile Hasselbaink, who is the 5/2 second favourite to take over, is certain that talk linking him to the club remains mere speculation.
The managerial situation is doing nothing to improve the Hoops’ form and owner Tony Fernandes will need to make a decision over the occupant of the club’s dugout sooner rather than later.
Whether that is finally hiring a replacement or keeping Warnock as caretaker until the end of the season. Rumours about the position aren’t likely to arrest a run which has seen QPR claim just two wins in the last eight league games.
Unsurprisingly, given the lack of momentum in the pursuit of a new boss, Warnock is the bookie’s leading candidate to get the full-time gig at odds of 7/4.
Beyond the former Crystal Palace boss and Hasselbaink, unemployed Nigel Pearson is an 8/1 chance, while Chris Powell, recently sacked by Huddersfield, can be backed at 10s.
It’s unlikely that Brendan Rodgers will slip into the Championship for his next job, but he is next in the list at 12s, a price shared by Birmingham tactician Gary Rowett.
Of the more speculative possible appointments, former AC Milan boss Clarence Seedorf is a 20/1 chance, Michael Laudrup is 33/1 and the return of Harry Redknapp can be backed at a far-too-short 50s.
