Birmingham favourites in three-way tussle for Bristol City ace

Birmingham next manager

After a stellar campaign at the heart of the Bristol City defence last term, Aden Flint was always likely to attract attention this summer.

And a trio of the Robins’ Championship rivals are tussling for his signature, with Birmingham City currently slender favourites to snap up the 28-year-old.

The Preston native played every minute for City last season, helping the South-West side chalk up 12 clean sheets in all competitions. At the other end, the powerful centre-back also netted five times, including a late winner against Wigan Athletic in April.

That’s seen Blues boss Harry Redknapp set his sights on the defender, with odds of 11/8 for Flint to head to St Andrews’ before the window closes.

Having conceded 64 goals in the Championship last term, it’s fair to say defensive reinforcements are in order for the West Midlands club.

However, they face firm competition from Yorkshire pair Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday.

The Whites are 7/4 to add the experienced centre-half to their ranks, while the Owls are 2/1 to swoop for the man who began his career with three seasons at nearby Alfreton Town.

With the Championship season kicking off this weekend, could we see Flint lining up in the colours of a new club on opening day?
