Five EFL Deadline Day deals you may have missed

Birmingham City, Sheffield United, Portsmouth

While Premier League clubs were busy spending megabucks this transfer window, the EFL clubs quietly went about their business.

Deadline Day proved as frantic as ever as clubs in the Championship, League One and League Two all hurriedly completed their business.

Here are five EFL transfers you might have missed…

Jota to Birmingham City

Blues boss Harry Redknapp has pulled off a real coup in bringing Jota to St Andrew’s for £6m.

The Spaniard has been key for Brentford since joining in 2014 and will be sorely missed at Griffin Park.

Meanwhile, Birmingham now have a seriously dangerous midfield.

If ‘Arry can knit the various strands together they could be on to something good in the Midlands.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga to Leeds United

You’ve probably not heard of German forward Pierre Michel-Lasoga.

But you will do soon.

The 25-year-old has lit up the Bundesliga with 30 goals in 107 games for Hamburg.

And now the 6ft 2in ace is ready to hit the ground running at Elland Road.

Bought as a direct replacement for Chris Wood, Lasogga is a physical player who should score goals at Championship level.

David Wheeler to Queens Park Rangers

A pacey winger with an eye for goal, Wheeler has joined Queens Park Rangers from Exeter City on a three-year-deal.

Exeter’s loss is QPR’s gain and for a rumoured £500,000 the West Londoners are getting quite the player.

Playing from a wide position Wheeler scored 21 goals in 42 games last season and has 15 in his last 29 appearances.

If he can hit the ground running at Loftus Road the 25-year-old could prove to be a big player in the Championship.

Oliver Hawkins to Portsmouth

Portsmouth have bagged themselves a gem in Dagenham & Redbridge striker Oliver Hawkins.

In his first full season as a professional Hawkins bagged 18 goals last season.

And that was in a campaign where the towering forward was hampered by injury.

With a good supply line at Fratton Park the 25-year-old should excel with Pompey in League One.

Dave Tarpey to Barnet

Dave Tarpey has finally made the step up to the EFL with Barnet.

The ex-Maidenhead United man netted 45 goals as the Magpies won promotion from the National League South last season.

And he leaves York Road as the National League’s top scorer after seven goals in the opening seven games.

Whether he can cut it in League Two remains to be seen

.portsmouthBut we’re looking forward to seeing how he steps up to the full-time game.
