Carabao Cup acca: Middlesbrough to best Chelsea in semi-final

Carabao Cup acca - Stamford Bridge

Before we get to the FA Cup fourth round fixtures this weekend, four English clubs have another domestic cup competition to look forward too, so Ladbrokes shares its Carabao Cup acca.

Middlesbrough shocked Premier League opposition Chelsea, by beating the 2020/21 Champions League winners 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium two weeks ago, putting themselves within touching distance of the final.

Travelling to Stamford Bridge won’t be an simples task for Michael Carrick and his side, but Ladbrokes is pegging the Championship side to leave London on Tuesday evening with a place in the Carabao Cup final, which forms part of our 6.87/1 double.

Middlesbrough to qualify for the Carabao Cup final

We kick things off at Stamford Bridge, where we’re picking Middlesbrough to progress to the Carabao Cup final as part of our double bet.

It won’t be easy, despite going into the second-leg with a 1-0 lead, but Middlesbrough being priced at 2/1 to progress to the next round makes them worth a punt.

The bet would still come in even if Middlesbrough lose on the night, given they’re going into the game with an aggregate lead, if they beat Chelsea on penalties, making it a rather interesting one to go for.

Cody Gakpo to score

For the second and final leg of our double, we head to Craven Cottage, where Liverpool go into the game with Fulham with a 2-1 aggregate lead after coming back from 1-0 down at Anfield two weeks ago.

Most are expecting Liverpool to win on the night and progress through to the final, but for something different, we’re picking Cody Gakpo to score at any time during the game.

Gakpo didn’t start for Liverpool in their 4-0 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, so expect him to play from the first minute in London this week. The Dutchman is the competition’s joint-leading scorer, so at the price of 13/8, Gakpo to score his fifth goal of the tournament is also worth a punt.

Our 12/1 Premier League acca came in this weekend, and for the Carabao Cup games, our double bet can be placed with Ladbrokes at the price of 6.87/1.

Below are the outrights for the four teams remaining in the Carabao Cup this season, with Chelsea priced as the second favourites, despite going into the second leg with a 1-0 disadvantage.

  • Liverpool – 1/2
  • Chelsea – 5/2
  • Fulham – 11/1
  • Middlesbrough – 14/1
