Ladbrokes takes you through its Carabao Cup final predictions and betting tips for Liverpool v Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.

On February 25, in a repeat of the 2022 Carabao Cup final, Liverpool face Chelsea. Both teams will be hoping to win the first domestic trophy of the year, ahead of the FA Cup culminating later this year.

Liverpool beat Chelsea 4-1 at Anfield last month. But since then, the Blues have started to play significantly better football and Jurgen Klopp’s side have picked up significant injuries, making this game a rather interesting one.

Carabao Cup final predictions and betting tips

Liverpool to win on penalties – 12/1

Not only did Liverpool beat Chelsea on penalties in the final of the Carabao Cup two years ago, but they also beat the Blues on penalties in the final of the FA Cup just a few months later.

An interesting bet for this one could be Liverpool to beat Chelsea on penalties ONCE AGAIN here, with odds of 12/1. Prior to Liverpool’s 4-1 trashing of Chelsea last month, the majority of the last few games between the two sides had been draws, dating back to 2021, so this game could definitely go the distance.

Liverpool are dealing with a major injury crisis right now. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Alisson Becker will also definitely miss the game, whilst Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai are serious doubts, and also be unavailable for selection in the final, so don’t expect another demolition from Klopp’s men.

If you’re fancying Chelsea to cause somewhat of an upset and beat Liverpool on Sunday, you can also bet on them to win the Carabao Cup on penalties with Ladbrokes at 12/1.

Chelsea to win from behind – 12/1

We’re going with a Liverpool win here for our official prediction, but there’s an argument to be made that the longer the game goes on, the more chance Chelsea have of winning the final.

In their 4-1 win over Luton this week, Liverpool were able to bring on Andy Robertson off the bench, but the rest of their substitutes consisted of Bobby Clark, James McConnell and debutant Jayden Danns. To say Liverpool are short of depth right now would be an understatement, so if they take an early lead, there’s a chance that they aren’t able to bring players off the bench to help them keep it.

As such, Chelsea winning from a losing position could be worth a punt here, also at 12/1. Whilst Chelsea also have injury issues of their own, they still have quality players to come off the bench, which could be the difference at Wembley Stadium this weekend.

Luis Diaz to score & Liverpool to win – 16/1

As noted, our official Carabao Cup final predictions are for Liverpool to win, so our penultimate tip is for the Reds to lift the trophy, with Luis Diaz finding the back of the net for the second game running.

The Colombian, in the absence of Jota, Nunez and Salah, was the focal point of Liverpool’s attack against Luton, finding the back of the net in the second half to make the score 3-1. He also scored when Liverpool drew 1-1 with Chelsea at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, and could find the back of the net once again here.

Joe Gomez to score – 500/1

Let’s ends our Carabao Cup final predictions and betting tips with a bit of a long-shot, where we’re going with Joe Gomez to score his first professional goal on Sunday at Wembley.

Gomez hasn’t only never scored for Liverpool, but he also never scored for Charlton or whilst playing for England either. The versatile defender has come close several times this season, so wouldn’t it be great if he found the back of the net on the biggest stage here?

It’s definitely a long shot, so if you do make a bet on this one it’d probably better to stick a small stake on it, but Gomez scoring his first ever goal in the Carabao Cup final at 500/1 could be a fun punt.
