Champions League betting tips: Inter opener for injury-hit Real Madrid
Champions League betting tips and odds
The group stage of the Champions League starts on Tuesday night when the highlight is undoubtedly the clash between Barcelona and Bayern Munich at Camp Nou.
The Catalans, 25/1 to win the Champions League, will be playing their first match in 16 days after Saturday’s clash with Sevilla was postponed because of the scheduling of World Cup qualifying in South America.
Barca are 5/2 underdogs to win the game and we also have previews of two other matches for our Champions League betting tips.
Barcelona v Bayern Munich
Barca will have painful memories of their last encounter with Bayern, a humiliating 8-2 home defeat in last season’s quarter-final.
Bayern warmed up for Tuesday’s match with an ominous 4-1 victory at last season’s Bundesliga runners-up RB Leipzig and are 19/20 to win or 21/10 to secure three points and concede as one of our Champions League betting tips.

The hosts have injury problems, especially up front where Martin Braithwaite has joined Ousmane Dembele, Sergio Aguero and Ansu Fati on the casualty list.
However, Real Madrid have problems, with Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Dani Ceballos, Marcelo and Ferland Mendy all ruled out.
Four or more goals can be backed at 23/20 and Robert Lewandowski, who has scored six goals in his first four Bundesliga matches, is 23/10 to break the deadlock, with Jamal Musiala available at 3/1 to find the net following an excellent display against Leipzig from the bench as a replacementt for the injured Serge Gnabry.
Villarreal v Atalanta
Villarreal qualified automatically for the group stage courtesy of their Europa League final triumph against Manchester United and they are slight favourites at 29/20 to beat Atalanta who reached the knockout stage last season and the quarter-finals the year before.
Atalanta finished third in Serie A last season but lost 2-1 at home to Fiorentina at the weekend to sit in 10th place and they are 7/4 to win in Spain or 5/2 to draw bearing in mind the Yellow Submarine have shared the spoils in all three La Liga matches this season.
They also drew 1-1 with Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup which they lost on penalties, so we go 3/1 on the match finishing even and goals at both ends or a goalless draw is 12/1 which was the case in two of Villarreal’s matches this season.
However, the visitors are without injured striker Luis Muriel who has been ruled out for a couple of months so Villarreal to win and under 3.5 goals looks an interesting prospect at 5/2 as one of our Champions League betting tips for Tuesday’s game.
Inter Milan v Real Madrid
Tuesday’s clash between Barca and Bayern is followed a day later by another blockbuster as Italian champions Inter Milan host Real Madrid who fought back from a goal down to beat Celta Vigo 5-2 at the weekend thanks to a Karim Benzema hat-trick.
Inter start as 7/5 favourites to pick up three points but they lost both group games against Real Madrid last season as they finished bottom of the group with six points.

Los Blancos, like Inter, have made a decent start domestically with three wins and a draw from four games and can be backed at 9/5 to win at the San Siro as they did almost 10 months ago.
Benzema is 7/2 to break the deadlock as he did in the home leg or 5/4 to score and his side can be backed at 18/5 to be leading at half-time and full-time as they were in both matches in last season’s group stage.
