Champions League betting tips: Atletico eye Milan scalp
Champions League odds and preview
Places in the last 16 are at stake this week as we look into some Champions League betting tips for matchday five.
Ajax, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Liverpool have already qualified for the knockout stages and there are around a dozen teams who can join them.
We are looking at two ties on Tuesday and Wednesday night, starting with a big clash at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona v Benfica (Tue, 20:00)
After beginning their campaign with back-to-back 3-0 defeats, Barcelona can join Bayern Munich in advancing from Group E if securing a third successive win and are 4/6 to do so.
Xavi, who won this competition four times as a player with Barca, made a winning start as head coach as they edged Espanyol 1-0 on Saturday having taken over from Ronald Koeman.
Barca head into this match on the back of a four-game unbeaten run while Benfica, 4/1 outsiders to prevail, thumped Braga 6-1 before the international break to sit one point behind leaders Porto and were 4-1 winners in the cup at the weekend.
Four of Barcelona’s last eight matches have seen goals at both ends and that has been the case in Benfica’s previous five encounters so a home win and over 2.5 goals at 5/4 is worth consideration.
Lille v Salzburg (Tue, 20:00)
In what is one of the tightest groups, where all four teams can still qualify, Salzburg know victory, priced at 15/8, will see them progress to the knockout stages.
The Austrian champions top the group despite losing 2-1 at Wolfsburg on matchday four and can go through as winners if they win and the German side fail to beat Sevilla.
Salzburg won 2-1 in the reverse fixture and are unbeaten in their domestic league this season while Lille, 7/5 to prevail, were pegged back in a 2-2 draw at 10-man Monaco on Friday.
Another tight game is anticipated so a draw is 12/5 in our Champions League betting tips.
Both teams have scored in the French side’s last five matches and seven of Salzburg’s previous 10 have gone the same way. With that in mind, a draw and BTTS is 3/1.

Atletico Madrid v Milan (Wed, 20:00)
This is a huge Group B clash for both sides with Atletico knowing a win (4/6) will keep them in contention to advance without relying on other results.
Winless Milan must leave the Spanish capital with three points to keep alive their hopes of reaching the knockout stage, although a Porto win at Liverpool would end their prospects of a top-two finish.
They are 17/4 to hold up their end of the bargain in our Champions League betting tips.
Atletico’s 1-0 win over Osasuna at the weekend was the first time in nine games there have been less than two goals scored.
AC Milan, meanwhile, suffered their first Serie A loss this term when losing 4-3 at Fiorentina so over 2.5 goals is quoted at 4/5.
Both teams to score, over 2.5 goals in the match and either team to win is 13/8 in the #GetAPrice market, which has some appeal.
Sporting Lisbon v Borussia Dortmund (Wed, 20:00)
This pair are locked on six points as one of them is expected to join Ajax in advancing from Group C.
Sporting recovered from losing their opening two games against Ajax and Dortmund by beating Besiktas twice in a row while Dortmund suffered two defeats to the Dutch giants having started with two wins.
