Euro 2024 qualifying: Spain v Scotland betting tips

Spain and Scotland meet in an intriguing Euro 2024 qualifier in Seville on Thursday night.

Steve Clarke’s side sit top of Group A with a perfect record, above Spain after condemning them to their only defeat at Hampden Park in March, and know that a draw at 21/5 would be enough for them to qualify for next summer’s tournament in Germany.

We’ve looked at the markets and picked out some Spain v Scotland betting tips ahead of the match.

Scotland are flying

There seems to be no stopping Scotland, with the Tartan Army hopeful of following their side at a second consecutive European Championship after failing to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.

They started with a 3-0 win against Cyprus in March when Scott McTominay bagged a brace and showed they could mix it with the big boys with a stunning 2-0 victory over Spain courtesy of another two goals from the Manchester United midfielder.

Spain may have hit back since that defeat, but Scotland are full of confidence and are 11/1 to do the double over them.

After getting the better of Norway in their third match, the Scots brushed aside Georgia and Cyprus, with McTominay on the scoresheet in both games to take his tally for the campaign to six, two clear of the prolific Erling Haaland.

His goalscoring continued for his club at the weekend, netting twice at the death in United’s late triumph over Brentford at Old Trafford and is 6/1 to get on the scoresheet again for his country.

The wait for qualification may go on for Clarke’s men and we like the #GetAPrice offer of over 3.5 goals in the match, Spain to win and both teams to score as the first of our Spain v Scotland betting tips.

Spain have it all to do

Spain hammered Georgia 7-1 and battered Cyprus 6-0 since that defeat in Scotland, which was criticised by the likes of Rodri.

The Manchester City midfielder claimed the way Scotland played was “rubbish”, accusing them of wasting time, provoking his team-mates and falling over, while debutant David Garcia argued the Hampden Park grass was too long.

Scotland assistant coach John Carver said: “I have got to be honest, I didn’t like it. I felt it was disrespectful. But it was their prerogative to say whatever they wanted to say. Whether they used that as an excuse, I don’t know. As far as I was concerned, it agitated me and I’m sure it would have got to some of the players.”

Rodri may have provided Scotland with their team talk, but Spain will be a side to be feared on home turf.

They have netted nine goals in their two home games so far, with the Scots firing in five on the road, and a 3-1 home win looks an intersting prospect at 10/1 is the last of our Spain v Scotland betting tips. .
