Champions League qualifying: Rangers v PSV betting tips and odds

Rangers face PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League play-off round for the second successive season and will be hoping for a similar outcome from 12 months ago.

Gers went through 3-2 on aggregate thanks to Antonio-Kirko Colak’s crucial goal in the Netherlands which fired the Glasgow giants into the group stage for the first time in more than a decade.

Ahead of Tuesday’s first leg at Ibrox, we’re looking at some of the markets to help with our Rangers v PSV betting tips.

Gers squeeze past Swiss

Rangers edged into the final knockout round with a 3-2 aggregate victory over Servette, although they had to dig deep after trailing 1-0 at half-time in the return leg.

Jack Butland made two one-on-one saves either side of Dereck Kutesa’s opener, although Danilo incredibly missed the chance to level in front of an open goal before James Tavernier came to the rescue once again with a 50th-minute header.

Manager Michael Beale made eight changes for Saturday’s 2-1 comeback win against Morton in the League Cup so his players should be fresh for the clash with PSV, who beat Sturm Graz 7-2 on aggregate to reach this stage in a perfect start to the season.

Peter Bosz’s side beat Dutch champions Feyenoord 1-0 in the curtain-raising Dutch Super Cup which they followed with 2-0 and 3-1 victories over Utrecht and Vitesse Arnhem respectively, the latter after trailing at the break.

Beale’s new-look side started their Scottish Premiership campaign with a 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock, who eliminated Celtic from the League Cup on Sunday, but bounced back with a 4-0 victory over Livingston, and the feeling remains this is a team still getting used to each other.

Draw conclusion for exciting contest

It promises to be a thrilling night at Ibrox and we fancy a score draw at 3/1 as the first of our Rangers v PSV betting tips, although it’s 8/5 on over 3.5 goals as it was in last season’s fixture.

The Dutch giants scored and conceded in 20 of their 34 Eredivisie matches last season and that’s been the case in their first two matches of the new campaign.

The teams drew 2-2 in Glasgow 12 months ago and another close encounter with goals at both ends looks in prospect.

Luuk de Jong has started the season with a bang, netting four goals in as many games, three of which came over the two legs against Sturm Graz and he looks a possibility at 7/4 in the anytime goalscorer market.

However, for the next of our Rangers v PSV betting tips, Belgian winger Yorbe Wertessen catches the eye at 7/2 to get on the scoresheet as he has in both Eredivisie games this season following a successful loan spell with Union St Gilloise in the first half of 2023.

Both teams scored in the first half in last season’s fixture which can be backed at 29/10, while we go 9/1 on goals at both ends in both halves, just like 12 months ago.
